I Still Expect Greatness From You; a poem

You were never meant to see such darkness

And when you did, it broke you

But just because you know the bad, doesn’t mean you can’t do the good

I still expect greatness from you

And I know some days are too hard to come home to.

I know the moon sometimes feels like the rising gavel after a judgement

I know the stars sometimes feel like the Jury that you are pleading innocence to.

As you try to make your case to the whole universe

and find yourself begging the darkness again

But you will not find what you are looking for in the nooks of past.

or in any person for that matter.
